Halloween in Sarasota 2026: Fright Night, Trick-or-Treating and Tips

Costumed group at Fright Night on St. Armands Circle

Halloween in Sarasota lands on a Saturday this year, October 31, 2026, which means a full weekend of costumes, candy and warm evenings by the water. The big family events are on the keys and at the museum: Fright Night on St. Armands Circle, Safe Treats on Siesta Key and a free family night at The Ringling. This guide covers the Halloween 2026 events with confirmed dates, plus the practical side: crowds, parking, the trolley, beach rules and what to wear when the sun goes down.

Halloween 2026 at a Glance

  • Halloween at The Ringling: Saturday, October 31, 4 to 7 p.m. Free, no ticket needed.

Fright Night on St. Armands Circle

The St. Armands Circle Association lists Fright Night for Saturday, October 31, 2026, from 5:30 to 8 p.m., hosted by the merchants on the Circle. It's free. In recent years, families have trick-or-treated around the Circle past decorated shop windows and carved pumpkins, with plenty of grown-ups in costume too.

  • Arrive early. Halloween is a Saturday, so the Circle will already be busy with dinner crowds. Getting there by 5 p.m. makes parking far easier.
  • Golden hour is built in. The event starts about an hour before sunset, so the first stretch is in daylight, which is easier with little ones and better for photos.
  • Make a night of it. Book dinner on the Circle for after 8 p.m., or walk over to Lido Beach afterward. Our St. Armands Circle guide covers the restaurants, shops and history.

We're at 410 St. Armands Circle and open until 9 p.m. every day, so stop in if you need a layer for the walk to the beach or directions to the garage.

Halloween at The Ringling

The Ringling's Halloween Family Night is Saturday, October 31, 2026, from 4 to 7 p.m., and the museum lists it as free with no ticket or registration required. The plan includes trick-or-treating on the Loggia, a Lantern Labyrinth in the Courtyard, art-making, a seek-and-find, gallery guides pointing out paintings that are "not too spooky," and historic Halloween shorts in Gallery 19. A food truck will be on site.

  • Use the right entrance. Guests enter through the historic Museum of Art gates, not the Visitors Pavilion.
  • Bring the youngest early. The museum suggests 4 to 5 p.m. for families with small children.
  • Leave the props in the car. Swords, wands and similar costume pieces aren't allowed, and no candy in the galleries.
  • Bring a can. Non-perishable donations for All Faiths Food Bank are welcome.

Because it ends at 7, you can do The Ringling first and still catch the tail end of Fright Night on the Circle, about 15 minutes away across the bay.

Siesta Key: Safe Treats and the Scarecrow Stroll

The Siesta Key Chamber of Commerce lists Siesta Key Safe Treats for Saturday, October 31, 2026, from 4 to 6 p.m. It's a free trick-or-treat at local businesses around the key, and participating spots display official Safe Treats signs. Families don't need to register. Look for the signs in Siesta Key Village and along the island.

All month, the chamber's Scarecrow Stroll puts homemade scarecrows on storefronts from north to south Siesta, with 23 businesses taking part. You can see them during regular business hours through October 31 and vote online for a favorite. The winner is announced November 2.

The free Siesta Key trolley (Breeze route 77, the Siesta Islander) connects Siesta Key Village, Siesta Beach and Turtle Beach and is the easiest way to hop between stops. Check the Breeze Rider app for real-time arrivals, since holiday traffic slows things down.

More Halloween Events in Sarasota This Month

Lights at Spooky Point. Selby Gardens turns its Historic Spanish Point campus at 401 N. Tamiami Trail in Osprey into a Halloween light trail, now in its fifth season, from October 1 through October 31, 2026. Entry times are 6:30 p.m. (better for younger kids, before full dark) and 7:45 p.m. (darker and spookier), with the grounds closing at 9 p.m. Buy tickets in advance on selby.org, since nights can sell out, and carpool if you can because parking is limited.

Trick or Treat on the Lake. Tuesday, October 27, 2026, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Regatta Island at Nathan Benderson Park, 5851 Nathan Benderson Circle. Free, with free parking, a candy trail and a haunted house in the Finish Tower.

Boo! at The Bay. Saturday, October 17, 2026, from 5 to 7:45 p.m. at The Bay Park, 1055 Boulevard of the Arts, downtown. Trick-or-treating, free pumpkins for the first 1,800 kids, food trucks and a sing-along Nightmare Before Christmas at 6:30 p.m. The rain date is Saturday, October 24.

Ghost tours. Two local operators run Halloween-season tours downtown: Discover Sarasota Tours' Haunted Sarasota trolley tour and Sarasota Suncoast Tours' Ghosts and Gruesomes walking tour. Both have run through October in past years, but schedules, prices and age rules vary, so check each operator's booking calendar for remaining 2026 dates before you go.

Crowds, Parking and the Trolley on Halloween Weekend

Late October is the start of the busy season here, and a Saturday Halloween stacks events on top of normal weekend traffic. A few things make the night easier:

  • St. Armands garage. The city garage is at 57 N. Adams Drive, a short walk from the Circle, with public restrooms inside. On a normal day, the first hour is free once you register your license plate in the city's parking app or at a pay station. The city can charge a flat rate during special events, so read the signs when you pull in.
  • Street parking. Metered spaces on the Circle cost $1.50 an hour from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Saturday, so meters are still running during Fright Night.
  • The free Bay Runner trolley. It runs from Main Street downtown over the Ringling Bridge, around St. Armands Circle and out to Lido Beach. Check SarasotaBayRunner.com or the app for current hours.

A Beach Day on Halloween

A Saturday Halloween is a great excuse for a beach morning before the costumes come out. The Gulf is still warm at the end of October, with average water temperatures in the upper 70s for the month, so many days are good for swimming.

  • Siesta Beach has a free county lot at 948 Beach Road with about 950 spaces, open 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Our Siesta Key Beach guide has the full rundown.
  • Lido Beach has a free main lot at 400 Ben Franklin Drive, a short walk or trolley ride from the Circle.
  • No glass, no smoking. Glass containers aren't allowed on county beaches, and smoking is banned at county beaches and parks.
  • Last night of turtle season. Sea turtle nesting season runs May 1 to October 31. If you stay for sunset, keep flashlights and phone lights off the sand, fill in any holes and knock down sand castles before you leave.
  • Check conditions. Look at Mote Marine Laboratory's beach reports at visitbeaches.org for red tide and water conditions, and keep an eye on the tropics, since hurricane season runs through November 30.

Sunday brings an earlier sunset after the clocks change, so plan Sunday's beach walk for around 5 p.m. instead of 6.

What to Wear in Late October

Halloween weather here is warm in the afternoon and pleasant at night. Normal highs at the end of October are in the low to mid 80s, and lows drop into the mid 60s, which can feel cool on the water once the breeze picks up. Plan costumes that breathe and bring a layer. If you forgot something, here's what we'd grab:
