Every November, more than 20 master sand sculptors from around the world turn part of Siesta Beach into an outdoor gallery. The Siesta Key Crystal Classic runs Friday, Nov. 13 through Monday, Nov. 16, 2026, and it is one of the best reasons to plan a fall trip to Sarasota. This guide covers Crystal Classic 2026 tickets, hours, parking, the trolley, and how to time your visit so you see the sculptures at their best.

What You'll See at the Crystal Classic
The heart of the festival is the ticketed sculpture area. Professional sculptors arrive with fresh piles of sand and carve solo and doubles pieces over several days, plus a large community carve. Because they build in public, the experience changes depending on the day you go.
- Thursday: sculpting starts, before the gates open to the public.
- Friday and Saturday: artists keep working all day, so you see pieces take shape. Sand sculpting lessons and live demos run during festival hours.
- Saturday: the adult amateur contest takes place, and the ticketed area stays open until 9 p.m. with the sculptures lit after dark.
- Sunday: artists get a final few hours, then winners are announced at the awards ceremony at 3 p.m. The youth amateur contest is also Sunday.
- Monday: the finished sculptures are all on display and most artists have headed home. People's Choice voting closes at 2:30 p.m.
Admission includes a People's Choice token, so you can drop it at your favorite piece. There is also a Quick Sand contest, a fast-paced challenge to see what sculptors can make against the clock, plus live music, food and drink, and a vendor village outside the ticketed area.
Which Day Should You Go?
It depends on what you want to see.
- For finished sculptures and smaller crowds: Monday morning. Everything is complete, and the gates close at 3 p.m.
- For the lights: Saturday evening. Sunset is around 5:40 p.m. in mid-November, so arrive late afternoon, watch the sun go down over the Gulf, then walk the lit sculptures.
- For the full story: buy the four-day pass and stop in on Friday and again on Sunday or Monday to see how much changes.
- For the awards: Sunday, with the ceremony at 3 p.m.
Our tip: go early in the day. The sun is lower, the sand is cooler, and the light on the sculptures is softer for photos.
Crystal Classic Tickets
Tickets are sold online through the Siesta Key Chamber's ticketing page, linked from siestakeycrystalclassic.com. A general admission ticket is scanned once, so if you want to come back another day, you need another ticket or the four-day pass. All sales are final, and the ticket page offers optional purchase protection that has to be added at checkout.
A few practical notes from the festival's own rules:
- The admission and beer and water tents take cards only. Some vendors take cash.
- No coolers or glass inside the event area.
- Folding chairs are fine as long as they don't block paths.
- No pets, other than service animals. No smoking on the beach.
- A limited number of beach wheelchairs are available first come, first served at the information tent. Bring ID.
Prices and policies can change, so check the official site before you buy.
Parking and Getting to Siesta Beach
Parking is the biggest headache of festival weekend. The main Siesta Beach lot is normally free, but during the Crystal Classic the festival sells VIP parking passes for the main lot by the day. As of mid-October, the Saturday passes had already sold out. Passes are tied to one day and can't be moved to another.
If you don't have a pass, plan to leave the car behind:
- The free trolley. The Breeze 77 Siesta Islander is a free, open-air trolley that runs roughly every 30 minutes between Turtle Beach and Siesta Key Village, with a stop at Siesta Beach. The county lists daily hours of 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. The Breeze Rider app shows live arrival times.
- Breeze Route 33 also serves Siesta Beach from the mainland.
- Ride-share or walk if you're staying on the key. The festival also suggests The Frog Hop, a tips-only ride service on the key.
- Don't park on residential streets where it's posted. Tickets and tows are common on the key.
Coming from St. Armands Circle or Lido, Siesta Beach is roughly a 25 to 35 minute drive depending on traffic, and traffic onto the key builds on festival weekends. Give yourself extra time.
Make a Weekend of It
The Crystal Classic lands in a busy week. The Living Arts Festival runs Nov. 8 to 15 and even lists the sand sculpting festival on its program, and the St. Armands Circle Art Festival fills the Circle on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 14 and 15, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. You could spend a morning on Siesta, an afternoon browsing art on the Circle, and an evening at a show.
If you want to swim or just spread out a towel away from the festival area, Siesta Beach is long and wide, and our Siesta Key Beach guide covers Crescent Beach, Turtle Beach and Siesta Key Village for lunch.
What to Bring to the Crystal Classic
You'll spend hours on open sand with very little shade, even in November. Pack light, but don't skip these:
- A hat. A Siesta Key Meshy cap in white stays cool, or go with the Siesta Key Rempa cap in sand, which hides beach dust well.
- Sunscreen. The reflection off white quartz sand is strong. Sun Bum Mineral Sunscreen Spray is easy to reapply on the go.
- Water. A refillable Sarasota water bottle keeps drinks cold through a long afternoon.
- A light layer for Saturday night. Evenings on the beach in November can turn breezy. The Performance Keys Long Sleeve works as a sun shirt by day and a layer after sunset.
- A card, since the ticket and drink tents don't take cash.
